This is what the free OptiStack report looks like — your stack and the collaborative-support map between the supplements you already take. Details are blurred in this preview; the real report shows everything for your own stack.

The stack
One dose of each, once daily.
Multivitamin (Centrum Adult)
1 tablet daily · broad-spectrum synthetic multi
• Delivers ~100% RDA of most vitamins and a modest mineral panel. Baseline insurance, not therapeutic dosing.
• Uses cyanocobalamin (B12) and folic acid rather than methylated forms — a real limitation for the ~30–40% of adults with reduced MTHFR activity.
• Iron in the adult formula (18 mg as ferrous fumarate) will compete with your zinc, magnesium, and calcium in the same window.
CoQ10 (Kirkland)
1 softgel daily · 300 mg ubiquinone
• Ubiquinone (oxidised form) — well-studied but converts to ubiquinol less efficiently after ~40. If you're over 40 and don't feel a subjective difference in 8 weeks, ubiquinol is worth trying.
• Fat-soluble — take with the fattiest meal of the day for meaningfully better absorption.
NAC (NOW Foods)
1 capsule daily · 600 mg N-acetyl-cysteine
• Rate-limiting precursor to glutathione — supports Phase II liver detoxification and mucolytic activity in the airways.
• Best absorbed on an empty stomach; a faint sulfur odor at the bottle is normal and not spoilage.
Vitamin E (Kirkland)
1 softgel daily · 400 IU dl-alpha-tocopherol
• dl-alpha (synthetic) is roughly half as bioactive as natural d-alpha, and pure alpha-tocopherol suppresses circulating gamma-tocopherol over time. A mixed-tocopherol product is a meaningful upgrade.
• Fat-soluble — co-take with your CoQ10 and any fish-oil dose; the antioxidants protect each other from oxidation.
Ashwagandha (Kirkland)
1 capsule daily · root extract
• Adaptogen — modulates the HPA axis and blunts cortisol reactivity to stress.
• KSM-66 and Sensoril are the two extracts with the strongest human trial data; if the label doesn't name a standardised extract, expect variable results.
• Take with food to buffer mild GI upset; evening dosing pairs well with sleep support.
• Well tolerated with or without food; effects on joint symptoms typically build over 4–8 weeks.
Basic B Complex (Thorne)
1 capsule daily · methylated B-complex
• Uses active forms — methylfolate (5-MTHF), methylcobalamin (B12), P-5-P (B6), R5P (B2). Bypasses the MTHFR bottleneck that limits Centrum's folic acid + cyanocobalamin.
• Take with breakfast — B-vitamins are mildly stimulating and can disrupt sleep if taken late.
Hi Biotin (Allergy Research Group)
1 capsule daily · 5,000 mcg biotin
• High-dose biotin (5 mg) is well above the ~30 mcg AI. Useful when a clinician is targeting hair, nail, or dermatologic goals; unnecessary otherwise given Centrum + Thorne already cover baseline biotin.
• Critical caveat: pause biotin 48–72 h before any blood draw. High-dose biotin skews many immunoassays — thyroid panels, troponin, hormones — and can produce clinically misleading results.
SafeCell (Tesseract Medical Research)
1 capsule daily · CyLoc-delivered cellular-defence formula
• Tesseract's CyLoc / cyclodextrin delivery is a genuine bioavailability technology — molecularly dispersing poorly-absorbed compounds for meaningfully higher uptake than standard capsules.
• Confirm the exact active-ingredient panel from your bottle's Supplement Facts — SafeCell's formulation has changed over the years, and the analysis below adapts to whatever's actually in it.
Magnesium oxide (Douglas Laboratories)
1 capsule daily · magnesium oxide
• Magnesium oxide has the lowest elemental absorption of common magnesium forms (~4% in one classic study) — most of the labelled dose is not systemically bioavailable.
• It's a fine osmotic laxative but a poor choice if you're taking magnesium for muscle, sleep, or cardiovascular support. Glycinate, malate, or citrate are meaningfully better absorbed.
Collaborative support — how these nutrients work together
NAC + MSM
sulfur / glutathione
NAC provides cysteine (rate-limiting for GSH synthesis); MSM provides bioavailable sulfur for downstream sulfation reactions and connective tissue.
Benefit: Complementary sulfur donors that both feed the glutathione pathway — the body's master antioxidant system.
CoQ10 + Vitamin E
antioxidant recycling
Reduced CoQ10 (ubiquinol) donates an electron to the tocopheroxyl radical, restoring active alpha-tocopherol.
Benefit: CoQ10 regenerates oxidised vitamin E back to its active form, extending the antioxidant defence in cell membranes.
Ashwagandha + B-complex (Thorne)
stress / energy
Ashwagandha blunts HPA-axis reactivity; active-form B-vitamins support the neurotransmitter and methylation demands that rise with chronic stress.
Benefit: Adaptogenic support paired with the cofactors needed to actually make catecholamines and methylate them.
